What Connects ‘Singham Again’ and ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3’ Despite Their Different Worlds?

The Diwali season is heating up with two of the most awaited Bollywood releases: Singham Again from Rohit Shetty’s Cop Universe and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, the latest in the horror-comedy franchise starring Kartik Aaryan. Both films have their unique appeal and massive fan followings, making their box office clash even more exciting. However, despite their contrasting genres—Singham Again being an action-packed police drama and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 a spooky yet hilarious horror-comedy—there’s a common thread between them that fans might not realize.

    Remakes of South Indian Cinema

The key connection between Singham Again and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 lies in their roots. Both franchises are remakes of South Indian films that went on to become massive successes in Bollywood.

Singham Again: A Journey from South to Bollywood Stardom

Ajay Devgn’s Singham series is one of the most successful action franchises in Hindi cinema, but few may know that its story originates from the Tamil film Singham (2010). Directed by Hari, the Tamil version was a hit but only had one part. When Bollywood adapted it, the first part of Singham became a huge hit in 2011, and the franchise expanded under the skilled direction of Rohit Shetty. Now, with its third part, Singham Again, set to hit theaters this Diwali, it promises to be the biggest entry in the series yet, boasting a star-studded cast and intense action sequences.

Rohit Shetty has built the Singham franchise into a mega-event film series, creating a Bollywood blockbuster empire that far exceeds the original Tamil movie’s success. This has turned Singham Again into one of the most anticipated films of the year.

Bhool Bhulaiyaa: A Horror Comedy with Southern Roots

Similarly, Bhool Bhulaiyaa is also a remake, adapted from the critically acclaimed Malayalam film Manichitrathazhu (1993). While Manichitrathazhu was a psychological thriller, Bollywood gave the story a humorous spin, turning it into a horror-comedy with Akshay Kumar leading the first part in 2007. The movie’s unique blend of suspense and comedy struck a chord with the audience, and the sequel, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, starring Kartik Aaryan, further established the franchise’s popularity.

Now, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 is set to raise the stakes this Diwali with an even more thrilling twist—two Manjulikás! With its signature mix of eerie moments and laugh-out-loud humor, this third part promises to keep audiences on the edge of their seats while delivering a fresh take on the classic tale.

Two Powerful Franchises, One Common Origin

While Singham Again and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 may seem like opposites, their success owes much to the South Indian cinema from which they draw inspiration. Both films have not only adapted their Southern originals but have transformed them into iconic Bollywood franchises. The South’s cinematic influence continues to shape the Hindi film industry, with these films evolving beyond their remakes and taking on a life of their own.

This Diwali, as these two power-packed films face off at the box office, audiences can expect nothing less than fireworks. Whether you’re a fan of high-octane action or spine-tingling horror-comedy, this festive season is all set to entertain with both Singham Again and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 bringing their A-game to the big screen.
