Bollywood Stars Demand Death Penalty for Kolkata Rape Case Accused

The brutal rape and murder of a trainee doctor in Kolkata has sparked outrage across India. The incident, which took place at RG Kar Medical College, has led to widespread protests demanding justice. Bollywood celebrities, including Genelia D’Souza and Rimi Sen, have joined the chorus, calling for the death penalty for those responsible. Their voices add to the growing demand for stricter laws to protect women in India.

    Genelia D’Souza Calls for Justice

Actress Genelia D’Souza expressed her horror and anger over the incident on social media. She called for the death penalty for the accused, labeling them as “monsters” who deserve the harshest punishment. Genelia shared her thoughts on X, stating, “The monsters must be hanged. I shuddered just reading about what the victim went through. A life-saving woman on duty had to face this horrific situation in the seminar hall. My thoughts are with the victim’s family and loved ones. I can’t even imagine how they must be facing this tragedy. For me, freedom will mean only when women in our country feel truly safe.”

    Rimi Sen Demands Stricter Laws

Kolkata-born actress Rimi Sen echoed Genelia’s sentiments, also demanding the death penalty for the accused. In an interview with Hindustan Times, she expressed her frustration with the legal system, saying, “I think he should get the death penalty. Whoever is responsible, there should be a punishment more severe than the strict law so that people get scared before doing such an act.”

    Rimi Sen Demands Stricter Laws

Rimi further emphasized the need for stricter laws in India, drawing comparisons to the legal system in Dubai. She said, “India should follow rules like Dubai. We lack strict laws and punishment because here power games and connections often help people get out of such situations. No matter how much we protest, things will not change unless the laws do.”

    Bollywood Unites in Anger

The horrifying incident has united Bollywood in anger. Stars like Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor, Hrithik Roshan, Vijay Verma, Suhana Khan, and Ayushmann Khurrana have also expressed their outrage and grief over the tragic event. Their collective demand for justice highlights the need for immediate action to prevent such atrocities from recurring.

    Shocking Details of the Case

The details of the case are deeply disturbing. The trainee doctor, a second-year postgraduate student in the Chest Medicine Department of RG Kar Medical College, was raped and murdered on the night of August 8-9. According to police reports, the accused, Sanjay, was seen entering the seminar hall around 4 AM, and the victim’s semi-nude body was discovered at 6 AM.

The post-mortem report, as revealed by Dr. Suvarna Goswami, Additional Secretary of the All India Government Doctors Association, suggests that the victim may have been gang-raped. The report found 150 mg of semen in the victim’s private parts, leading to the suspicion of multiple attackers. The incident has left the entire nation in shock and has reignited the debate over women’s safety in India.

Public Outcry and Demand for Action

The Kolkata rape case has sparked a massive public outcry, with people from all walks of life demanding swift and severe punishment for the perpetrators. The incident has also highlighted the urgent need for reforms in the legal system to ensure that such crimes are met with the strictest consequences. The voices of Bollywood celebrities like Genelia D’Souza and Rimi Sen amplify this demand, calling for justice and the safety of women in India.
