Famous filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt is all set to bring the popular Pakistani TV show Humsafar to the Indian stage as a play. This iconic drama, starring Fawad Khan and Mahira Khan, captured the hearts of many viewers, not just in Pakistan but also in India. Now, in a move aimed at fostering peace between India and Pakistan, Mahesh Bhatt has taken the initiative to adapt this beloved show into a stage production.

    A Step Towards India-Pakistan Peace

Mahesh Bhatt’s plan to stage Humsafar is part of his larger goal to promote cultural harmony between India and Pakistan. The play will be a unique cultural exchange, highlighting the shared love for entertainment across the borders. Bhatt has been in discussions with Hum TV, the channel that originally aired Humsafar, to secure the rights for this stage adaptation.

    Securing Rights and Permissions

According to reports, Mahesh Bhatt has successfully negotiated with Hum TV’s creative head and CEO, Momina Duraid, to obtain the necessary permissions for the stage play. Momina Duraid, who is also the creator of Humsafar, has given her nod to the project. The negotiations involved Hum TV’s founder, Sultana Siddiqui, who is closely associated with the original show. This collaboration marks an important step towards cultural dialogue between the two nations.

No Commercial Gains, Only Peaceful Intentions

In an interview, theatre and film actor Imran Zahid, who is closely involved in this project, revealed that the stage adaptation of Humsafar will be a non-commercial venture. The performance will be free, with no earnings involved, reflecting the pure intention of promoting peace and cultural exchange. The final details and official announcement of the project are expected to be made soon.

    The Legacy of Humsafar

Humsafar first aired on Pakistan’s Hum TV in 2011 and quickly became one of the most loved shows in the country. The show’s success catapulted Mahira Khan and Fawad Khan to stardom, making them household names not only in Pakistan but also in India. Later, the show was broadcasted in India on Zee Zindagi, where it garnered a huge following. Humsafar is still considered one of Pakistan’s best TV dramas and continues to be popular, with millions of views on YouTube.

Excitement Builds for the Stage Adaptation

While the details of where and when the play will be staged are yet to be announced, the anticipation is already building. Fans of the original show and theater enthusiasts alike are eager to see how Humsafar will be brought to life on the Indian stage. The casting for the play has not been disclosed, but with Mahesh Bhatt at the helm, expectations are high for a production that will do justice to the beloved drama.

Mahesh Bhatt’s effort to adapt Humsafar into a play is more than just a creative project; it’s a symbolic gesture aimed at bridging cultural divides and celebrating the shared love for storytelling between India and Pakistan.
