The highly anticipated India vs Bangladesh Test series is set to kick off on September 19, with two matches scheduled to be played in India. The first Test will take place at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, while the second Test is planned at the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur starting on September 27. However, recent threats from the Hindu Mahasabha have raised concerns about the Kanpur venue. Despite the tensions, the BCCI has assured that the match will proceed as planned.

Security Concerns in Kanpur: No Plans to Shift Venue

Amid political unrest in Bangladesh and alleged violence against Hindus, the right-wing Hindu Mahasabha issued threats to protest against the Bangladesh cricket team during the second Test in Kanpur. This has sparked concerns about the security of players and the smooth conduct of the match. However, a BCCI official confirmed that there are no plans to shift the venue.

The official stated, “We are closely monitoring the situation and coordinating with local authorities. We have taken all necessary steps to ensure the match is held safely. The stadium is ready, and we are fully prepared to host the match in Kanpur as scheduled. We will continue to keep an eye on the situation, not just in Kanpur but at all venues.”

Full Squad Announced for the First Test

The Indian cricket team, led by captain Rohit Sharma, is geared up for the series. The squad includes: Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, Sarfaraz Khan, Rishabh Pant (wicketkeeper), Dhruv Jurel (wicketkeeper), R Ashwin, R Jadeja, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Siraj, Akash Deep, Jasprit Bumrah, and Yash Dayal.

    BCCI’s Preparations and Safety Measures

The BCCI is actively working to ensure the safety of players and the smooth organization of the match in Kanpur. Special arrangements are being made in collaboration with security agencies to handle any protests or disturbances. The stadium is fully equipped to welcome both teams, and security measures will be in place to address any potential threats.

The BCCI’s firm stand on hosting the match in Kanpur reflects their commitment to ensuring that cricket remains unaffected by off-field issues, allowing fans to enjoy the much-awaited clash between India and Bangladesh.
