In an unexpected turn of events during the Duleep Trophy, Yash Dubey’s dismissal left everyone stunned. India D, led by Shreyas Iyer, was chasing a massive target of 488 runs set by India A. The team had already reached 102 runs with only one wicket down, and Yash Dubey, in partnership with Ricky Bhui, was steering the innings forward. However, the 30th over of India D’s second innings, bowled by Shams Mulani, witnessed a moment that changed the game.

How Yash Dubey’s Run Out Shocked Everyone

Yash Dubey, who was batting confidently at 37, found himself dismissed in a bizarre and surprising manner. Facing the fourth ball of the over, Ricky Bhui played a straight drive aiming to steal a single. Dubey, at the non-striker’s end, responded by attempting a quick run. However, the ball struck his bat while he was running, altering its direction unexpectedly.

Some quick thinking, presence of mind & luck helped India A break the 100-run stand between Yash Dubey & Ricky Bhui 🙌#DuleepTrophy | @IDFCFIRSTBank

The ball, instead of traveling down the field, ricocheted off Dubey’s bat and headed towards the stumps. Shams Mulani, showing incredible awareness, quickly seized the opportunity. He ran to the stumps and knocked the bails off before Dubey could return to the crease, running him out in an unusual fashion.

The End of a Promising 102-Run Partnership

The run out not only ended Yash Dubey’s innings at 37 but also broke a crucial 102-run stand between him and Ricky Bhui. At the time of the dismissal, Bhui was standing strong with 61 runs. Unfortunately, after this surprise wicket, India D’s middle order struggled to regain momentum.

Devdutt Padikkal and captain Shreyas Iyer came in but couldn’t last long against the sharp bowling of Shams Mulani. Both batsmen were clean bowled by Mulani, who played a pivotal role in changing the course of the game.
