Renowned actress Kate Winslet, famously known for her role in Titanic, has recently opened up about a personal health journey as she approaches her late 40s. In a recent podcast, Winslet revealed that she has undergone testosterone therapy to help manage hormonal imbalances, which she believes have impacted her desire and energy levels. Now 48, the actress shared her experience on the ‘How to Fail with Elizabeth Day’ podcast, giving advice to those facing similar issues.

Kate Winslet’s Experience with Testosterone Therapy

During the conversation, Winslet discussed the often overlooked role of testosterone in women’s bodies. She explained how many women experience a significant drop in their testosterone levels as they age, especially nearing menopause. “A lot of people don’t know this, but women also have testosterone, and when it’s gone, you lose something important,” Winslet shared. She further added that by replacing the lost hormone, women can regain their vitality and feel more confident, even in their later years.

Winslet’s Advice for Women Facing Hormonal Imbalances

Kate Winslet emphasized that the issue of declining desire or energy isn’t something to be embarrassed about, urging women to consider getting their thyroid and testosterone levels checked. According to her, hormonal imbalances can often be the reason behind a dip in overall health and well-being. She stressed that it’s not just about ageing, but rather how women’s bodies naturally change with time. “Our bodies are weird, and they behave in strange ways, especially as we age,” she remarked.

    Body Positivity and Embracing Ageing

Apart from her comments on therapy, Winslet has always been a vocal advocate for body positivity and women’s health. She has previously spoken against body shaming and shared encouraging words for women facing the challenges of ageing. In the same podcast, she encouraged women to embrace the changes their bodies go through, saying that while ageing can bring physical changes, it is vital to stay confident and not let those changes dictate one’s sense of self-worth.
