In a surprising turn of events, Pakistani artist Saifi Soomro has made headlines with his recent claims that a painting he lost seven years ago has reappeared in a scene from the popular drama ‘Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum’, starring Hania Aamir and Fahad Mustafa. The drama, currently making waves, features a scene set in an art gallery, where several paintings are prominently displayed. Among them, Soomro recognized one of his own lost artworks.

The Disappearance and Reappearance of the Painting

In 2017, Saifi Soomro exhibited his paintings at an event held at Karachi’s Frere Hall. After the exhibition, he discovered that one of his paintings was missing. Initially, he was informed that the painting was lost. Despite numerous attempts to recover it, Soomro eventually gave up hope, assuming the worst.

However, Soomro recently spotted his painting in a scene from the 17th episode of ‘Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum’. His social media post reveals his frustration: “I was told that my painting was lost, only to see it on TV. This feels like a betrayal. I have proof that this painting belongs to me, and I haven’t even been credited for it.”

Production Company Responds to the Allegations

The scene in question depicts characters Emmad Irfani and Areej Chaudhary discussing art in an art gallery. Following Soomro’s allegations, the production company behind the drama, Big Bang Entertainment, has issued a statement addressing the issue. They clarified that the scene, including the painting, was part of a rented setup. The company claimed they were unaware of any unauthorized use of Soomro’s artwork.

Big Bang Entertainment’s statement read: “We were not informed that the painting used in our drama was someone’s personal property. We rented the gallery space and its contents. We are distancing ourselves from this issue and have no direct involvement in it.”

    Government Steps In

The controversy surrounding the unauthorized use of Soomro’s painting has attracted public attention and criticism. In response, Sindh’s Cultural Minister Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah has ordered an investigation into the matter to ensure that the artist’s rights are protected.

This incident has sparked a broader discussion about the ethical treatment of artists and the importance of securing permissions when using creative works. As the investigation unfolds, the art community and viewers alike await further developments in this unfolding story.
