The Caribbean Premier League (CPL) is known for its thrilling cricket moments, but what happened last night left everyone in awe. In a match between Trinbago Knight Riders and Guyana Amazon Warriors, a relatively unknown player, Shakkere Parris, smashed a massive 124-meter six that flew higher than the stadium roof, creating a moment that will be remembered for a long time.

A Jaw-Dropping Six by Shakkere Parris

At just 21 years old, Parris shocked the crowd when he got down on his knees and hit an enormous six over midwicket. The ball soared above the stadium roof, leaving spectators craning their necks to follow its path. This gigantic hit was the longest six of the CPL 2024 season so far, and it reminded fans of a similar moment in the IPL when Albie Morkel hit a 124-meter six against Pragyan Ojha back in 2008.

Trinbago Knight Riders vs Guyana Amazon Warriors: Match Overview

In the 19th match of CPL 2024, held at Queen’s Park Oval, Port of Spain, the Trinbago Knight Riders faced off against the Guyana Amazon Warriors. Trinbago’s captain Kieron Pollard won the toss and opted to field first. The Guyana Warriors struggled initially, losing wickets at regular intervals and finding themselves at 76/7 after 12 overs. However, Romario Shepherd and Dwayne Pretorius turned the game around with an unbeaten 72-run partnership, bringing the team’s total to a competitive 148 runs. Shepherd was particularly impressive, scoring an unbeaten 51 off just 24 balls.

    Parris’ Incredible Six

When it was time for the Trinbago Knight Riders to bat, Sunil Narine and Shakkere Parris opened the innings. Narine fell early to Moeen Ali, but Parris took charge, focusing on accelerating the run rate. In the third over, facing a full-length delivery from Gudakesh Moti, Parris unleashed a monstrous shot over deep midwicket while on his knees. The crowd erupted as the ball soared above the stadium and out of sight. Later, it was confirmed that the six measured an incredible 124 meters, tying the record for the longest six in CPL history.

    Parris’ Promising Start Cut Short

Despite showing promise with his batting, Parris couldn’t convert his quick start into a big score. He was dismissed after scoring 29 runs off 29 balls, but his massive six left a lasting impact on the game. The Trinbago Knight Riders found themselves in a tight spot after losing five wickets for just 89 runs.

Tim David and Andre Russell Seal the Win

It was Tim David and Andre Russell who eventually steered the Knight Riders to victory. David played a steady knock of 31 runs from 24 balls, while Russell delivered a power-packed performance, smashing 36 runs off just 15 balls. Together, they guided Trinbago to a five-wicket win with four balls remaining, keeping the team in strong contention for the CPL 2024 title.

A Night to Remember in CPL 2024

This game will not only be remembered for the thrilling finish but also for Shakkere Parris’ stunning 124-meter six, which has now become a talking point in cricket circles. Though the young player couldn’t capitalize on his start, his extraordinary shot has earned him a place in the CPL 2024 highlight reel.
