An old interview of Anushka has resurfaced, where she candidly admitted that she used to be very proud of her looks during her school and college days. She stated that she thought she was the most beautiful girl and was quite arrogant because of this belief. However, her meeting with Aditya Chopra changed her perspective.
In an interview, Anushka shared how Aditya Chopra shattered her pride. She said, “Before becoming an actress, I was very arrogant. I didn’t talk to many people and was very proud of my beauty. But during my first meeting for ‘Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi,’ Aditya Chopra told me bluntly that I wasn’t the best-looking girl. This was a shock because, till then, I thought I was.”
Karan Johar Tried to Sabotage Anushka Sharma’s Career
While Aditya Chopra had faith in Anushka and gave her a chance, things were different with Karan Johar. Karan, who is one of the most influential filmmakers in Bollywood, later admitted that he wasn’t convinced about Anushka’s looks and acting potential. In fact, at the 2016 MAMI Mumbai Film Festival, Karan publicly confessed that he tried to stop Aditya from signing Anushka for the role.
Karan said, “When Aditya showed me Anushka’s photo, I thought, ‘You are crazy! Don’t sign her. There was another actress I had in mind, and I pushed Aditya to cast her instead. I was ready to end Anushka’s career before it even started.“
