However, not all actresses were thrilled with Mona’s work, and she once even received a threat from Bipasha Basu.
Mona opened up about her experiences as a voice artist in an interview with the YouTube channel ‘Motor Mouth,’ where she revealed some interesting incidents with Bollywood actresses.
The Incident With Bipasha Basu
Mona Ghosh was the voice behind Bipasha Basu’s iconic roles in films like Jism, Raaz, Footpath, and Gunaah. However, when Bipasha found out that her voice had been dubbed, she wasn’t too happy. According to Mona, the actress even went to the extent of threatening her, saying, “I will kill you if you dub for me again.”
Mona clarified that it wasn’t her choice to dub for Bipasha, as the decision was made by the filmmakers. She shared, “They don’t realise it’s not my decision. I don’t ask to dub for a particular actress. It’s my profession, and if someone approaches me, I do the job.”
Rani Mukerji Didn’t Approve Either
Mona Ghosh also dubbed for Rani Mukerji in Ghulam. However, Rani wasn’t impressed with how different her voice sounded. In several interviews, Rani expressed her dislike for the dubbed version of her voice. Mona empathized, saying, “I understand why she didn’t like it. When you are so used to your own voice, hearing someone else talk with your face can be strange.”
Positive Reactions From Other Actresses
Despite the negative reactions from some actresses, Mona has also received praise for her work. She voiced Nargis Fakhri in Rockstar, and Nargis appreciated her performance. Mona also dubbed for Deepika Padukone in Om Shanti Om and lent her voice to Katrina Kaif in Rajneeti, Sarkar, and Humko Deewana Kar Gaye.
Mona Ghosh Shetty has played a crucial role in bringing many Bollywood characters to life through her voice, and while not every actress has appreciated it, her talent is undeniable in the industry.
