In a rain-marred second Test between India and Bangladesh at Kanpur, India gained a crucial advantage on Day 4, thanks to aggressive batting and impressive bowling performances. Despite losing two entire days to rain, the match came alive with India’s T-20 style batting and a powerful performance from Ravichandran Ashwin. With Bangladesh trailing by 26 runs and two wickets down, the final day promises more excitement.

India Leads by 26 Runs Despite Rain Interruptions

The match had seen no play on Day 2 and Day 3 due to rain and a wet outfield. When play finally resumed on the fourth day, Bangladesh had posted 233 runs in their first innings, largely due to Mominul Haq’s century. India responded with aggressive batting, declaring their innings at 285 for 9, taking a 52-run lead. By the end of Day 4, Bangladesh were at 26/2, still trailing India by 26 runs, with Ashwin taking two crucial wickets.

India’s Explosive Batting: T-20 Mode in Tests

India’s batsmen displayed a rare Test innings played in T-20 style. Yashasvi Jaiswal led the charge with a blistering 72 runs off just 51 balls, smashing 12 fours and 2 sixes. India raced to 50 runs in just three overs, breaking England’s previous record for the fastest team fifty. Jaiswal was ably supported by KL Rahul, who made 68 from 43 balls, and Shubman Gill, who added 39 runs to the total.

    Record-Breaking Batting Display

India shattered multiple records with their aggressive batting. They reached 50 runs in three overs, beating England’s record of 4.2 overs. The team then scored 100 runs in just 11 overs, the fastest century since their Port of Spain Test against West Indies. India also broke Australia’s record of the fastest 200 runs in Test cricket, reaching the double-century mark in just 24.2 overs.

    Kohli Reaches 27,000 International Runs

Virat Kohli contributed a solid 47 runs from 35 balls, hitting 4 fours and 1 six. During his innings, Kohli became only the fourth cricketer in history to cross 27,000 runs in all formats of international cricket. He joins an elite list that includes Sachin Tendulkar, Kumar Sangakkara, and Ricky Ponting.

    Jadeja’s 300 Wickets and 3000 Runs

Among the bowlers, Ravindra Jadeja made history by becoming the seventh Indian to take 300 Test wickets. He also became the second-fastest player after England’s Ian Botham to achieve the milestone of 300 wickets and 3000 runs in Test cricket. This all-round contribution continues to highlight Jadeja’s importance to the Indian team.

India’s Bowling Performance on Day 4

India’s bowling attack led by Jasprit Bumrah, who took three wickets, proved too strong for Bangladesh in the first innings. Ashwin, Siraj, and Akash Deep supported Bumrah by claiming two wickets each. With Ashwin striking twice early in Bangladesh’s second innings, India now holds the upper hand as the match heads into the final day.

The fifth day is likely to be a thriller, with India pushing for a win and Bangladesh fighting to stay alive in the game.
