The team of Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has clarified that neither he nor his production house, SKTV, has any connection to Netflix’s ‘The Great Indian Kapil Show.’ This response came after the Bongo Bhashi Mahasabha Foundation (BBMF) sent a legal notice to the show, accusing it of disrespecting the legacy of Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore and hurting cultural and religious sentiments.

According to BBMF, an episode of the show featuring comedian Krishna Abhishek sparked outrage among viewers, particularly from the Bengali community, as he reportedly made fun of Tagore’s renowned song, Ekla Chalo Re. This skit has since been criticized for its alleged insensitivity toward Bengali culture. Bengali poet Srijato, also offended by the portrayal, expressed intentions of taking legal action against the show’s creators.

Dr. Mandal’s legal advisor, Nripendra Krishna Roy, sent the notice to the show’s makers, underscoring the foundation’s concern that the skit disrespected Tagore’s legacy and risked harming cultural values. As news of the notice spread, rumors emerged that Salman Khan’s production house, SKTV, was also targeted with a notice, given the speculation about his involvement with the show.

However, a representative from SKTV quickly shut down these claims, asserting that neither Salman Khan nor his production company is affiliated with ‘The Great Indian Kapil Show’ in any way. “Some media reports suggest that Salman Khan or SKTV has received the notice, but this is false. We have no association with the Netflix show,” stated the representative.

This statement has since clarified that SKTV has no involvement with ‘The Great Indian Kapil Show’ or the ongoing controversy surrounding it.
