Ullu App’s Owner Vibhu Aggarwal Faces Backlash Over Show

The Ullu app, known for its bold and adult web series, has landed in a controversy after a clip from its reality show House Arrest went viral. The show, hosted by Bigg Boss fame Ejaz Khan, faced major backlash online after a scene showed contestants being asked to perform intimate acts on camera. Following the uproar, Ullu removed the show from its platform.

This controversy has once again brought focus on the app and its founder — Vibhu Aggarwal. Many are now asking who runs this app and how it has turned into such a profitable business despite repeated criticism over its content.

Meet Vibhu Aggarwal – The CEO of Ullu App

Vibhu Aggarwal is the founder and CEO of Ullu Digital Pvt Ltd, the company behind the adult content streaming app Ullu. He started the platform in 2018 with a focus on bold Indian web shows. According to his LinkedIn profile, Vibhu has over 30 years of experience in business. He began his career in 1995 with JPCo India Pvt Ltd.

While Ullu remains his most talked-about venture, in 2022 he also launched Atrangi TV, a free-to-air television channel offering family-friendly content, which is a sharp contrast from the adult shows on Ullu.

Wife Megha Aggarwal Also Involved in Ullu Business

Vibhu’s wife Megha Aggarwal is not just a silent partner. She actively handles operations along with her husband. The couple runs the platform together, managing its content and business growth. Their partnership has made the app one of the most talked-about OTT platforms in the country — especially for its bold themes and series.

Despite criticism, the husband-wife duo has built a successful empire through the app. Reports suggest that Ullu has a strong user base in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities where demand for uncensored and local-language content is high.

From Small Start to Massive Growth in Revenue

Ullu did not get a good start initially. Its first show, Halala, got a lukewarm response. But things changed when it started producing adult content like Kavita Bhabhi, Painter Babu, Badan, and Kasturi. These shows became popular during the COVID lockdown, especially when people were stuck at home and consuming more digital content.

The bold content strategy worked. As per a 2024 Instagram post, the app’s revenue shot up from ₹46.8 crore to ₹93.1 crore in just one financial year. Industry watchers now estimate Ullu’s revenue to be touching ₹100 crore annually.

    Backlash After ‘House Arrest’ Show

While Ullu has been growing fast, controversies haven’t left its side. The recent House Arrest row is a fresh example. The viral clip led to strong reactions from political and social leaders, many of whom demanded action against the platform. After the criticism, Ullu removed the show, but debates around content regulation on OTT platforms have intensified.
