Team India is preparing for a big Test series in England. With senior players like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and R Ashwin missing from the squad, pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah will have a major role. As India aims for success on swinging English pitches, Bumrah’s skills and experience will be crucial. Amid this, former Australian captain Michael Clarke made a lighthearted comment about Bumrah that caught attention.

Clarke’s Fun Remark: “It Should Be Illegal”

During a recent episode of Michael Clarke’s cricket podcast, Bumrah joined him for a casual chat. Clarke, impressed by Bumrah’s unique combination of deadly pace and calm attitude, said jokingly,
“It should be illegal to bowl at 150 km/h and still be the nicest guy on the field.”

Clarke didn’t question Bumrah’s bowling action or legality. Instead, he praised Bumrah’s calm nature on the field, which is rare among fast bowlers. Usually, pacers express aggression, often celebrating wickets with strong emotions. But Bumrah stays composed and focused, a quality that sets him apart.

Bumrah Shares Why He Avoids Aggression

In the podcast, Clarke asked Bumrah about his calm style, especially after taking key wickets. Bumrah replied,
“Yes, I have a competitive mindset and I play to win. But I never want to cross the line.”

This approach reflects Bumrah’s discipline and professionalism. His ability to remain composed under pressure makes him a dependable bowler in all formats.

Bumrah Looks Forward to England Challenge

Bumrah is excited about the upcoming England tour. Speaking about the conditions and the famous Dukes ball, he said,
“Playing in England is always a unique challenge. The weather, the swing, and the ball keep changing. But I always enjoy bowling there.”

He also mentioned England’s new aggressive Test style, often called “Bazball”, saying,
“They play a bold style of cricket. As a bowling unit, we believe that when batters take more risks, we get more chances to take wickets.”

This confident mindset shows Bumrah’s readiness for tough conditions and unpredictable matches.

    Disclaimer:
Michael Clarke’s use of the word “illegal” was meant in a humorous and praising tone. It was not related to Bumrah’s bowling action or rules of the game.
