Shreyas Iyer has once again proved his leadership skills by guiding Sobo Mumbai Falcons to the final of the T20 Mumbai League 2025. After a busy IPL season, Iyer wasted no time before taking charge of his local team and delivering results. Falcons will now face Mumbai South Central Maratha Royals in the final match, which will take place at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai, on 12 June 2025.
Strong Semi-Final Show from Maratha Royals
Mumbai South Central Maratha Royals displayed excellent form in the first semi-final against Eagle Thane Strikers. The team dominated both with the bat and ball to win the match easily.
Siddhesh Lad, the team captain, led from the front. He scored a brilliant 74 not out off 52 balls, including nine fours and a six. His calm and smart batting ensured a smooth chase for his team.
Before this, Rohan Raje stole the show with the ball. He picked up five wickets, including important middle-order dismissals. His bowling effort helped restrict the Strikers to 131/8 in 20 overs. It was the first five-wicket haul of the season and fourth overall in tournament history.
The Strikers had a shaky start after winning the toss and choosing to bat. They were 57/4 after 10 overs. A late effort from Sairaj Patil (41) and Atharva Ankolekar (34 not out) helped them reach a fighting total. But Raje came back strong to break the partnership and ended their hopes of a big score.
In response, Royals played smart cricket. After losing Sahil Jadhav early, Siddhesh Lad built steady partnerships with Chinmay Sutar (19) and Sachin Yadav (19 not out). Their unbeaten 55-run stand helped Royals seal the win and secure a place in the final.
Shreyas Iyer’s Falcons Show Class in Second Semi-Final
In the second semi-final, Sobo Mumbai Falcons, led by Shreyas Iyer, defeated Bandra Blasters by five wickets. Falcons looked in control throughout the match, with both bowlers and batters performing well.
Batting first, Bandra Blasters scored 130 runs in 20 overs. Dhrumil Matkar (34) and Akash Anand (31) were the top scorers for the Blasters. But Falcons’ bowler Akash Parker played a key role by taking three wickets, which slowed down the scoring rate in the middle overs.
While chasing, Ishaan Mulchandani remained unbeaten on 52 runs and anchored the chase smoothly. He was well supported by Akash Parker (32), who contributed with the bat as well, and Angris Raghuvanshi (27). Their collective effort helped the team chase down the target with ease.
Final Showdown on June 12 at Wankhede Stadium
The grand final of the T20 Mumbai League 2025 will take place at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Both teams have key players in top form.
While Maratha Royals rely on the consistent form of Siddhesh Lad and the bowling strength of Rohan Raje, the Sobo Mumbai Falcons have a well-balanced squad with Mulchandani, Parker, and the leadership of Shreyas Iyer.
Cricket fans are waiting eagerly for the final clash. With players in form and team morale high, the match promises to be a thrilling contest.
