Hollywood actor Charlie Vickers, known for his role in ‘The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power,’ recently revealed his admiration for Indian cricket star Virat Kohli in an interview with News18 Showsha. Vickers, who has a significant following of his own, expressed his fandom for Kohli, calling him his favorite Indian cricketer. Despite being a supporter of the Australian cricket team, Vickers couldn’t help but admire Kohli’s talent and charisma on the field.

A Memorable Encounter with Virat Kohli

During the interview, Vickers shared a personal anecdote about meeting Kohli during a trip to Auckland. He recalled staying in the same hotel as the Indian cricket icon but admitted that he was too nervous to approach him. “Kohli and I were staying in the same hotel, but I was nervous, so I didn’t talk to him,” Vickers said, reflecting on the missed opportunity. Despite this, he described the experience as a memorable one, highlighting how much he admired Kohli’s presence.

    A Unique Connection with India

While Vickers might not have explored Indian cinema extensively, he mentioned a unique connection to Bollywood through music. He revealed that he had the opportunity to sing with legendary Indian singer Asha Bhosle. This experience, though brief, gave him a glimpse into the rich cultural tapestry of India. “I never got a chance to explore Indian cinema much, but singing with Asha Bhosle was my little window into Bollywood,” Vickers shared.

Memories from ‘The Lord of the Rings’ Promotions

Vickers also touched upon his co-stars’ experience visiting India during the promotion of the first season of ‘The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power.’ Although he was unable to join them at the time due to being in Mexico City, he mentioned how much they enjoyed their trip to Mumbai. Vickers expressed his desire to visit India someday, inspired by the stories shared by his fellow cast members.

Anticipation for the Second Season of ‘The Rings of Power’

As fans eagerly await the second season of ‘The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power,’ Vickers hinted at his excitement for the show’s return. The new season is set to premiere on Prime Video on August 29, with an ensemble cast that includes Cynthia Addai-Robinson, Robert Aramayo, and Morfydd Clark, among others. Vickers, who has previously appeared in web series like ‘Medici’ and ‘The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart,’ as well as films like ‘Palm Beach’ and ‘Death in Shoreditch,’ continues to make his mark in the entertainment industry.

    Looking Forward to Exploring India

Fellow actor Charles Edwards, who was also part of the interview, added that if given the chance to visit India again, he would love to enjoy a meal prepared by the chef at the Taj Mahal Hotel. He also recommended that Vickers should make it a point to dine there if he ever visits India. This small conversation highlighted the actors’ fascination with India and their eagerness to explore its culture and cuisine.

As Charlie Vickers continues to shine on the international stage, his admiration for Virat Kohli and his unique connections to India only add to his charm. Fans of both cricket and cinema will surely look forward to seeing more of Vickers on screen and perhaps, one day, in India itself.
