Akshay Kumar is a versatile actor who has explored various genres in his long Bollywood career. While he is currently in the spotlight for his upcoming film Housefull 5, the actor has faced a tough phase with several flops in the last few years. Since Sooryavanshi in 2021, he has been struggling to deliver a box office hit. However, what many might not know is that despite these setbacks, one of Akshay’s films, Boss (2013), holds a unique distinction—its name is etched in the Guinness Book of World Records!

The Film That Beat Michael Jackson’s Record

Akshay’s Boss may not have been a box office success, but it made history differently. The film broke the Guinness World Record for the largest movie poster ever made. This massive poster was even bigger than the one for Michael Jackson’s This Is It. Measuring 58.87 meters wide and 54.94 meters tall, it was unveiled in the UK at Little Gransden Airfield in October 2013. The giant poster was created by UK-based Macro Arts, the same company that had previously designed Jackson’s iconic poster.

Four Months of Hard Work by Fans

It took a dedicated four months to create this record-breaking poster. The initiative was spearheaded by Akshay Kumar’s fan club, who worked tirelessly with the film’s team to make sure the poster set the world record. The effort was a testament to the love and admiration Akshay’s fans hold for him.

The Film ‘Boss’ – A Mixed Response

Released in 2013, Boss was a remake of the Malayalam film Pokkiri Raja. The film featured a star-studded cast, including Akshay Kumar, Mithun Chakraborty, Shiv Pandit, Rohit Roy, and Aditi Rao Hydari. Directed by Anthony D’Souza, Boss was made with a budget of ₹70 crore but managed to earn only ₹49 crore in India, making it a box office flop. While the movie performed well during its initial 10 days, the interest gradually waned, and it couldn’t sustain its momentum.

Despite the commercial disappointment, Boss left a mark with its popular songs like “Party All Night” and the evergreen classic “Har Kisi Ko Nahi Milta,” which are still played by audiences today. Akshay’s dialogue, “Apne ko to bas paani niklaa hai,” also garnered a lot of attention.

Akshay Kumar’s Recent Struggles at the Box Office

Recently, Akshay appeared in the film Khel Khel Mein, which was released on August 15, 2024. Fans had high expectations, but unfortunately, the film turned out to be another flop at the box office. Directed by Mudassar Aziz, Khel Khel Mein featured a star ensemble including Fardeen Khan, Amy Virk, Taapsee Pannu, Vaani Kapoor, Pragya Jaiswal, and Aditya Seal. Despite the strong cast, the movie failed to leave a lasting impact on the audience.

On a more positive note, Akshay Kumar also made a cameo appearance in the popular film Stree 2. His role was well-received, and there are speculations that a standalone movie might be developed based on his character from Stree 2.

    Looking Ahead to Brighter Days

Even though Akshay has faced challenges at the box office recently, his fans are still hopeful. With upcoming projects like Housefull 5 and the possibility of a spin-off from Stree 2, the actor is sure to bounce back and reclaim his position as one of Bollywood’s most successful and beloved stars.
