Amitabh Bachchan, the legendary Bollywood superstar, has always been in the spotlight, not just for his movies but also for his personal life. At 81, despite his age, Bachchan continues to captivate audiences with his performances. Recently, an old interview has come to light, revealing an important decision he made 13 years ago about how his property will be divided after his death.

    Equal Share for Children

In an interview with Rediff in 2011, Amitabh Bachchan shared his plans for dividing his wealth. He stated that he had decided to treat his children equally. “I had decided one thing that I will not discriminate between them,” Bachchan said. He made it clear that both his son Abhishek and daughter Shweta would receive an equal share of his property. This decision, he mentioned, was made in consultation with his wife, Jaya Bachchan.

    The Family’s Wealth

Last year, Amitabh made headlines when he gifted his famous bungalow, ‘Jalsa’, to his daughter Shweta Bachchan Nanda. The bungalow was valued at Rs 50 crore. Reports suggest that the total wealth of the Bachchan family is around Rs 1600 crore. This substantial amount will be split equally between Shweta and Abhishek, as per Amitabh’s will.

    Jaya Bachchan’s Role

Amitabh Bachchan emphasized that this decision was made with his wife Jaya. He mentioned, “Jaya and I had decided this long ago. Everyone says that the girl is someone else’s property, she goes to her husband’s house, but in my eyes, she is our daughter and has the same rights as Abhishek.”

    A Special Bond with Abhishek

In the same interview, Amitabh also discussed his relationship with his son, Abhishek Bachchan. He revealed that he treats Abhishek more like a friend than a son. “I had decided long before Abhishek’s birth that if I have a son, he will not be my son but a friend,” he said. He added that he considers Abhishek a friend, but still takes care of him like a father. Their bond is a mix of friendship and parental care.

This revelation about Amitabh Bachchan’s plans for his property division highlights his commitment to fairness and the deep bond he shares with his children.
