Diljit Dosanjh, the much-loved Punjabi singer and actor, is all set to embark on his highly anticipated ‘Dil-Luminati Tour’ across 10 cities in India. Fans are eagerly waiting for his live performances in cities like Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Pune, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Indore, Chandigarh, Guwahati, Lucknow, and Delhi. However, just before his concert in Delhi, the singer landed in a controversy. A fan from Delhi has sent him a legal notice over an issue related to concert tickets.

The Legal Notice That Shocked Diljit Dosanjh and His Team

One of Diljit’s passionate fans, Riddhima Kapoor, has claimed that she was unable to secure tickets for the concert and has accused the organizers of fraud and manipulation. She alleges that the organizers opened the ticket booking window a minute earlier, which resulted in many fans, including herself, missing out on getting a ticket. Riddhima, who lives in Delhi, was particularly excited about attending Diljit’s concert at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on October 26, but her experience with the ticketing process left her disappointed and frustrated.

What Went Wrong During Ticket Booking?

According to a report by Free Press Journal, the ticket booking for the Delhi concert was supposed to begin at 1 pm on September 12. Riddhima claims that the ticket window was opened at 12:59 pm, a minute before the announced time. Because she was waiting for the official time to book, she missed the opportunity to purchase the tickets. Despite her attempts, by the time she tried to book, all tickets were sold out within that minute. Although money was briefly deducted from her account, it was refunded shortly afterward when the ticket purchase was unsuccessful.

Accusations of Ticket Black Marketing and Fraud

Riddhima Kapoor has raised some serious allegations against the organizers of the Dil-Luminati Tour. She accused them of ticket black marketing and violating customer rights. She stated in her legal notice that the early opening of ticket sales points to fraudulent practices. According to her, this tactic was used to manipulate ticket prices and potentially resell them at higher prices. Riddhima even acquired a credit card just to avail the early-bird pass, further fueling her disappointment.

She claims that such practices violate the Consumer Protection Act of 2019, which safeguards customers against unfair trade practices. Apart from Diljit Dosanjh, the legal notice was also sent to Zomato, HDFC Bank, and Saregama Private Limited, all of whom were involved in some way with the concert arrangements.

Ticket Prices for the Delhi Concert

The ticket prices for the Delhi concert were categorized into two different price brackets—Rs 19,999 and Rs 12,999. These steep prices added to the frustration of fans like Riddhima, who felt that the whole system was rigged to favor resellers and leave genuine fans without tickets.

Delhi Police’s Light-Hearted Take on the Ticketing Fraud

During this controversy, the Delhi Police joined the conversation with a clever and creative warning. They posted a fun video on social media based on Diljit Dosanjh’s hit song ‘Born to Shine’. The caption read, “Don’t get your band played by paying money for tickets on a wrong link in the quest to listen to the song. Verify the link.” This was an amusing yet essential reminder for fans to stay alert and avoid falling for online ticket fraud.
