Karthi’s Laddu Comment Sparks Outrage
At the event, Karthi was shown a meme about the Tirupati laddu, and when asked if he wanted one, he casually remarked, “We should not talk about laddu right now. This is a very sensitive matter and I do not want to talk about it.” Though the audience laughed and applauded, this statement caused a stir among devotees and led to a major backlash.
Pawan Kalyan’s Sharp Reaction
Pawan Kalyan, known for his strong stance on such matters, did not take this lightly. On 24th September, he issued a stern warning, not only to Karthi but to the entire South film industry. “I am telling the film industry, if you are going to talk about it, talk respectfully. Otherwise, don’t talk at all. But if you make fun of it or make memes, people will not forgive you,” Pawan Kalyan told the media.
He emphasized that the Tirupati laddu, which holds religious significance for many, should not be the subject of jokes or insensitive comments. Without directly naming Karthi, Pawan Kalyan said, “I saw how it was talked about in a film event yesterday. Please, never dare to make such remarks again on a sensitive issue. When it comes to Sanatan Dharma, think 100 times before speaking.”
Karthi’s Apology to Pawan Kalyan
Following Pawan Kalyan’s sharp reaction, Karthi quickly took to social media to issue an apology. In his post, he expressed deep respect for Pawan Kalyan and clarified that he never intended to offend anyone. “Dear Pawan Kalyan Sir, Expressing my deep respect for you, I apologise for any misunderstanding that may have happened inadvertently. As a humble devotee of Lord Venkateswara, I always hold our traditions dear,” Karthi wrote.
