Bollywood actress Sonakshi Sinha recently shared insights into how her family reacted to her marriage with actor Zaheer Iqbal. Sonakshi tied the knot with Zaheer in a private registered marriage on June 23, 2024, which was held at her home with only close family and friends in attendance. The couple had kept their relationship away from the public eye for years, surprising many with the sudden news of their wedding.
Father Shatrughan Sinha Was Happy with Sonakshi’s Choice
Sonakshi, speaking about her father, veteran actor Shatrughan Sinha, revealed that he was happy about her decision to marry Zaheer. She stated, “When the husband and wife are happy, what can the Qazi do?“. Sonakshi also shared that her father had met Zaheer earlier and liked him a lot. Interestingly, Shatrughan and Zaheer’s birthdays fall just a day apart, which, according to Sonakshi, makes them quite similar.
Mother Poonam Sinha Knew from the Start
Talking about her mother Poonam Sinha, Sonakshi disclosed that her mother was aware of the relationship long before the marriage. Sonakshi said, “My mother knew him. She was the first person I trusted.” Since Poonam herself had a love marriage, Sonakshi mentioned that her mother fully understood the bond she shared with Zaheer and supported her.
A Private Ceremony Followed by a Grand Reception
After the couple’s registered marriage on June 23, a grand reception was held in Mumbai, attended by some of the biggest stars from the film industry. Despite the rumors that her family might not have been happy with the sudden marriage, Sonakshi clarified that her parents and siblings fully supported her relationship with Zaheer.
