East Delhi emerged as the champions of the Delhi Premier League (DPL) T20, clinching their first title with a narrow 3-run victory over South Delhi in a thrilling final. The match showcased outstanding performances from both sides, but it was East Delhi’s Simarjeet Singh, known for his stint with Chennai Super Kings in the IPL, who played a crucial role in his team’s success. Despite the incredible batting display by Priyansh Arya, a die-hard fan of Yuvraj Singh, his efforts were not enough to secure the trophy for South Delhi.

    Simarjeet Singh: The Star Bowler

Simarjeet Singh, the pace spearhead for East Delhi Riders, was instrumental in their title run, taking 18 wickets in 10 matches. With his best figures of 3 wickets for 18 runs and an economy rate of 8.88 runs per over, Simarjeet finished as the tournament’s top wicket-taker. His disciplined bowling in key moments proved decisive in East Delhi’s championship campaign. Ayush Singh Thakur, another promising bowler, also picked up 18 wickets in 10 matches but had a slightly higher economy rate of 9 runs per over.

    Priyansh Arya’s Unbeaten Run

On the batting front, Priyansh Arya was the standout performer of the league. The talented batsman scored a staggering 608 runs in 10 matches, with an impressive average of 67.56. Known for his powerful hitting, Arya smashed 43 sixes, echoing the style of his idol, Yuvraj Singh. He scored two centuries and four half-centuries, making him the leading run-scorer of the tournament. However, despite his efforts, South Delhi fell short in the final, leaving Arya without the trophy.

With the ball, Rawat took 11 wickets at an economy rate of just 7.04 runs per over. His contributions in both departments were crucial to East Delhi’s championship triumph.
