Kapil Parmar’s incredible story of determination and bravery has inspired the entire nation. He made history by winning India’s first-ever medal in Judo at the Paralympics, securing a bronze in the Men’s 60 KG J1 category. But Kapil’s path to victory wasn’t easy—it was filled with challenges, including a life-changing accident that nearly took away his eyesight.

The Shocking Accident That Changed Everything

Kapil Parmar, hailing from Sehore, Madhya Pradesh, faced a major setback at the tender age of 9. While trying to pump water at home, he suffered a severe electric shock. The shock damaged his eyesight, which gradually worsened over time. Today, Kapil’s vision is so impaired that even with the highest power glasses, he can barely see. However, this didn’t stop him from pursuing his dreams.

    A Passion for Judo

Despite his challenges, Kapil’s love for sports remained strong, and he chose Judo as his path to success. He trained in Bhopal, but it was at the Indian Para Judo Academy in Lucknow that he honed his skills under the guidance of coach Munavvar Anjar Ali Siddiqui. With hard work and dedication, Kapil transformed himself into a top-level Judoka, gaining recognition at national and international levels.

    A Rising Star in Judo

Kapil Parmar’s journey in Judo officially began in 2017, and he has been unstoppable since. In 2019, he won a gold medal at the Commonwealth Championship, a testament to his incredible talent. He then went on to claim a silver medal at the 2022 Asian Para Games, followed by a bronze at the 2023 World Games and Grand Prix.
