The stage is set for the semi-finals of the Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2024, with four teams qualifying for the knockout round. The tournament saw participation from 8 teams, and now the top four have emerged. Unfortunately, Bangladesh A, Hong Kong, UAE, and Oman failed to secure a spot in the final four. Both semi-final matches will take place on 25 October at the Al Emirates ground.

    Semi-Final Line-up: Who’s Playing Whom?

The first semi-final match will witness a face-off between Sri Lanka and Pakistan. Sri Lanka, after finishing at the top of Group A, will take on Pakistan, who made it to the semi-finals from Group B. The match is scheduled for 25 October at 2:30 PM IST.

The second semi-final will feature a battle between India and Afghanistan. India, dominating Group B with three wins in three matches, will clash against Afghanistan, the second-placed team from Group A. This match will start at 7 PM IST on the same day at Al Emirates.

    Journey to the Semi-Finals

Sri Lanka qualified for the semi-finals by securing 4 points in Group A. They won 2 of their 3 matches and topped their group due to a superior net run rate. Afghanistan, also with 4 points, won 2 matches but finished second due to their slightly lower net run rate compared to Sri Lanka.

On the other hand, India displayed a dominant performance in Group B, winning all three of their group matches and collecting 6 points to finish on top. Pakistan, finishing second in Group B, won 2 out of their 3 matches, securing their place in the semi-finals.

    India’s Last Group Stage Match

India cemented its spot at the top of Group B with a commanding 6-wicket win over Oman in their final group stage match. Chasing a target of 141 runs set by Oman, Ayush Badoni led the charge with an aggressive half-century. India reached the target with 28 balls to spare, finishing at 146/4 in just 15.2 overs. With this win, India remained unbeaten in the tournament, taking all 6 points from 3 matches.

Meanwhile, Pakistan finished their group stage on a high note by defeating UAE by a massive margin of 114 runs. Their strong performance secured them the second spot in Group B and a place in the semi-finals.

    Final Match Date

The final of the Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2024 will be played on 27 October at the Al Emirates ground at 7 PM IST, where the winners of the semi-finals will battle for the title.
