Sharad Kumar, a talented athlete from Muzaffarpur, Bihar, has made India proud by winning a silver medal in the Paris Paralympics. His journey is one of incredible determination and resilience, proving that with hard work and dedication, one can achieve great heights, even when faced with immense challenges.

The Early Life of Sharad Kumar

Sharad Kumar was not only good at sports but also excelled in academics. Born in Bihar, he completed his schooling at Modern School in Delhi, a prestigious institution known for producing bright students. After school, he pursued a degree in Political Science from Kirori Mal College, one of Delhi University’s top colleges. His love for learning didn’t stop there; he went on to study International Relations at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), one of India’s leading universities.

The Dream of Becoming an IAS Officer

Sharad’s academic achievements led him to dream of becoming an IAS officer, one of the most respected positions in India. In 2020, while he was in Ukraine preparing for the Tokyo Paralympics, the COVID-19 pandemic struck, leading to lockdowns worldwide. Unfortunately, Ukraine was also affected, and Sharad found himself stuck there, unable to return to India.

Due to the lockdown, Sharad missed the opportunity to fill out the application form for the UPSC exam, which is required to become an IAS officer. This was a significant setback for him, as he had been working hard towards this goal. However, Sharad did not let this disappointment stop him from pursuing success in other areas of his life.

    Overcoming Obstacles and Achieving Success

Despite the challenges he faced, Sharad remained focused on his athletic career. In the Tokyo Paralympics, he had already made India proud by winning a bronze medal in the men’s high jump T63 event. But Sharad wasn’t satisfied; he aimed higher and worked even harder.

In the Paris Paralympics, Sharad’s efforts paid off. He won the silver medal by clearing a height of 1.88 meters in the same event, showcasing his incredible talent and determination. This achievement marked a significant improvement from his performance in Tokyo, where he had won bronze. Sharad’s story is a testament to how perseverance and dedication can lead to extraordinary success, even in the face of adversity.

Despite the setbacks and challenges he faced, including being stuck in a foreign country during a global pandemic, Sharad never gave up. Instead, he redirected his focus and energy into his sports career, achieving greatness on the world stage.

Sharad’s story is a powerful reminder that life may not always go as planned, but with determination and a positive attitude, it’s possible to turn challenges into opportunities for success. His achievements have made the entire nation proud and serve as an inspiration to countless others who face their own obstacles in life.
