Yograj Singh, former cricketer and father of Yuvraj Singh, recently revealed startlingly in an interview about his past encounter with cricket legend Kapil Dev and his immense pride in his son’s courage during the 2011 World Cup.

    The Confrontation with Kapil Dev

Yograj Singh disclosed a tense moment from his past involving Kapil Dev. He narrated that after Kapil dropped him from the North Zone team, he was filled with anger and even went to Kapil’s house with a pistol. Yograj confronted Kapil, blaming him for his exclusion from the team and accusing him of ending his cricket career due to internal politics.

In a heated exchange, Yograj admitted that he intended to harm Kapil but refrained because Kapil’s mother was present. Yograj expressed his frustration, attributing his exit from cricket to both Kapil Dev and Bishan Singh Bedi.

Yuvraj Singh’s Courageous Battle During the World Cup

Switching gears to a more personal and emotional note, Yograj Singh spoke about his son Yuvraj Singh’s incredible performance in the 2011 World Cup. Despite battling cancer, Yuvraj emerged as a hero for the Indian cricket team. Yograj expressed that even if Yuvraj had lost his life during the tournament, he would have been proud of his son’s bravery.

Yuvraj played a pivotal role in India’s World Cup victory, scoring 362 runs with an average of 90.50 and taking 15 wickets. His resilience and determination earned him the title of Player of the Tournament, making him a national icon.

    Yograj’s Thoughts on Cricket Politics

Yograj didn’t hold back when discussing how politics in cricket affected his career. He claimed that his association with Sunil Gavaskar and his performance in Mumbai led to his exclusion from the team, as suggested by the selectors at that time.

    A Father’s Unwavering Pride

Despite the controversies and challenges, Yograj’s pride in Yuvraj’s achievements is evident. He reminisced about Yuvraj’s grit on the field, highlighting his son’s dedication to cricket even when his health was at risk.
