With the new season of Bigg Boss around the corner, fans are eagerly waiting to see which celebrities will enter the house this time. Salman Khan’s Bigg Boss 18 is expected to bring more drama and excitement. However, this season, the makers are facing a challenge as many popular TV actors are not showing interest in joining the show.
A-List TV Actors Turning Down Offers
In the past, big TV names like Shweta Tiwari, Juhi Parmar, Hina Khan, and Shilpa Shinde have participated in Bigg Boss, making it a popular reality show. But things seem different this year. Despite approaches from the Bigg Boss team, several A-list TV actors are not keen on entering the house. Names like Shoaib Ibrahim, Arjun Bijlani, Surbhi Chandna, and Nia Sharma have reportedly turned down offers to be a part of the show.
Social Media Influencers: A Key Reason for the Reluctance
One of the main reasons why these actors are hesitant is the increasing presence of social media influencers on the show. In recent seasons, including Bigg Boss OTT, influencers have been given more screen time, which some actors feel is overshadowing their presence. Reports suggest that for Bigg Boss 18, popular influencers like Dolly Chaiwala have been approached. However, some TV actors are uncomfortable sharing the spotlight with influencers known for their bold and often rude behavior.
Concerns Over Disrespectful Behavior
A TV actor, speaking anonymously, expressed concerns about the disrespectful attitude of some social media influencers towards established actors. The actor said, “We appreciate social media content creators, but it doesn’t mean they can speak to us disrespectfully. The way some influencers behaved with a senior actor like Ranveer Shorey was disrespectful. I have spent two decades in this industry, and it’s insulting when influencers with a big social media following try to belittle us. Just because they have millions of followers, they think they are more important, forgetting that real success is not just about numbers but about respect and professionalism.”
Challenges for Married and Committed Actors
Another reason some TV actors are reluctant to join Bigg Boss 18 is the trend of fake love stories inside the house. To gain more screen time and popularity, contestants often engage in showmances, which involve fake relationships and scripted drama. This has become a popular strategy to attract viewers, but it puts married or committed actors in a tough spot. They feel that this focus on romance and drama overshadows genuine personalities and talents.
Actors like Jay Bhanushali, who joined Bigg Boss 15, found it difficult to stand out amidst the fake love stories and scripted fights. This concern is shared by others in the industry, making them wary of participating in the show.
A Call for Change
The reluctance of top TV actors to join Bigg Boss 18 could be a signal to the show’s makers to rethink their approach. There is a growing demand for the show to focus more on real personalities and less on forced drama and influencer culture. Until changes are made, many TV stars may continue to keep their distance from the Bigg Boss house.
As Bigg Boss 18 gears up for its premiere, it will be interesting to see if the makers manage to strike a balance between popular social media influencers and respected TV actors to keep both the contestants and viewers engaged.
