Famous TV actress Shilpa Shinde, who is best known for her role in the popular show Bhabhi Ji Ghar Par Hain, recently shared a painful incident from her early career days. In an interview with News18, Shilpa revealed that she was sexually harassed by a filmmaker during the late 1990s. The actress recalled how she was asked to seduce the filmmaker during an audition, which turned out to be a horrifying experience for her.
The Shocking Incident
According to Shilpa, the incident happened around 1998-99 when she was just starting her career in the Hindi film industry. She explained that a well-known filmmaker had called her for an audition and asked her to wear inappropriate clothes for a scene where she was supposed to seduce him. Shilpa, being young and inexperienced at the time, agreed to do the scene, unaware of the filmmaker’s true intentions.
Shilpa shared, “I was innocent back then and didn’t understand what was happening. During the scene, he told me to seduce him because he was playing the role of my boss. Things got uncomfortable quickly, and when I realized he was crossing the line, I pushed him away and ran out of the room.” She added that the security staff present at the time saw what happened but simply asked her to leave without offering any help.
Choosing Not to Name the Filmmaker
Although the actress revealed her horrifying experience, she decided not to name the filmmaker involved. Shilpa explained that the person is still active in the industry and has a family. “I cannot take his name because it will affect his children, who are probably younger than mine. I don’t want to create trouble for them,” she said.
A Second Encounter
Years later, Shilpa encountered the same filmmaker once again, but this time, he didn’t recognize her. He approached her and even offered her a role in his film. Shilpa said that she politely refused the offer and walked away, realizing that the man had completely forgotten about the incident.

Shilpa further mentioned that such incidents are not uncommon in the film industry. “This happens to a lot of people in the industry. I know others who have faced similar situations. Some managed to escape just like I did, while others stayed quiet. The sad truth is, many people experience this, but you always have the option to say no,” she explained.
