Actress Shefali Jariwala, known for her iconic appearance in the music video Kanta Laga, passed away unexpectedly on 27 June, leaving fans and family in shock. While initial reports suggested cardiac arrest as the possible cause, the truth behind her sudden death remains uncertain. A detailed medical and police investigation is currently underway, and experts are waiting for forensic and chemical test reports to confirm the exact reason.
Postmortem Did Not Reveal Exact Cause
Doctors at Cooper Hospital in Mumbai performed the postmortem, but they could not confirm the cause of death. Instead, they preserved viscera samples and sent them to the Kalina Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) for chemical analysis. Along with that, histopathology tests have also been initiated.
Histopathology and chemical analysis are usually done when doctors cannot determine the cause of death during regular postmortem procedures. Once the laboratory reports are submitted, the final cause of death will be declared officially.
What Happened Hours Before Shefali Died
According to police investigation and family statements, Shefali was fasting the entire day due to a religious puja at home. At around 8:30 pm, she ate fried rice that was cooked a day earlier and stored in the fridge. The rice was reheated before being consumed.
After eating, she started feeling acidity and discomfort. She took Pantoprazole (40 mg) and Domperidone (30 mg) tablets to relieve her symptoms. The family also told the police that Shefali had been taking some anti-aging and skin glow treatments, including a vial of medicine given by a medical professional.
Situation Got Worse Around 10:30 PM
By 10:30 pm, Shefali reportedly collapsed and started shivering. The house help quickly called her husband, actor Parag Tyagi, who was walking their pet on the terrace. Parag rushed to her, checked her pulse, and immediately took her to Bellevue Hospital in Andheri West.
Unfortunately, the doctors at Bellevue declared her dead on arrival. They advised the family to shift her body to Cooper Hospital for legal and postmortem procedures. The police received a call around 11:30 pm and arrived at Cooper Hospital within 15 minutes.
Police Found Multiple Medicines at Her Home
While searching Shefali’s home, the police recovered two bags of medicines, including glutathione injections, vitamin C tablets, and several other wellness drugs. An officer informed that they also checked the dustbin, from where they collected used vials, wrappers, and food packets.
Preliminary findings suggest that many of these medicines were either not recently prescribed or were being taken without current medical advice. The police believe that Shefali had been using these drugs regularly for anti-aging and skincare purposes.
Still Waiting for Clarity
Right now, the exact cause of death remains unknown. Only after the chemical and histopathology reports come in will the medical experts be able to confirm what really led to Shefali Jariwala’s sudden and tragic passing.
Family, friends, and fans continue to mourn the untimely loss of a popular actress, hoping that the ongoing investigation will soon provide them with answers.
