Kritika Kamra, the popular TV actress known for her versatile roles, has successfully transitioned into the OTT space, winning hearts with her performances in various web series and films. Recently, she appeared in the fantasy thriller series Gyaarah Gyaarah, which has garnered a lot of praise from viewers. In an exclusive interview, Kritika opened up about her experience working on the series, shooting in the picturesque mountains of Uttarakhand, and her thoughts on her co-star Raghav Juyal’s chilling performance in the film Kill.
Scared to Hug Raghav Juyal After Watching Kill
Kritika Kamra, who co-starred with Raghav Juyal in Gyaarah Gyaarah, shared a light-hearted yet candid moment from her experience. She revealed that after watching Raghav’s intense performance in Kill, she found it a bit unsettling to approach him. “We had wrapped up shooting for Gyaarah Gyaarah when Kill was released. We all went to the premiere and were thoroughly impressed by Raghav’s acting. His role was so convincing that, for a moment, I was actually scared to hug him after the screening,” Kritika shared with a laugh, highlighting how convincing Raghav’s portrayal was in the film.
The Allure of Gyaarah Gyaarah’s Fantasy Thriller World
Gyaarah Gyaarah is not just another thriller; it’s a fantasy thriller with a mystical twist, which made it a unique project for Kritika. She reflected on how certain elements of the show seemed to seep into her real life. “The show revolves around the concept of time and recurring events, and ever since I started working on it, I’ve noticed the number ‘11:11’ appearing more often in my daily life. It’s almost as if there’s a special connection now,” Kritika said. This mystical angle of the show has resonated with the actress, making the experience all the more fascinating for her.
The Magic of Shooting in Uttarakhand
Kritika also spoke about the joy of shooting in Uttarakhand, a place she found mesmerizing. “Nature played a lot of pranks on us, but in a good way,” she joked, referring to the unpredictable weather and challenges of shooting in the mountains. Despite these challenges, she cherished the time spent there. “This was my first time spending so much time in Uttarakhand, and the mountains are just beautiful. I didn’t want to leave,” she admitted, adding that the experience of shooting on location was vastly different from working in Mumbai. The natural beauty and serene environment added a special touch to the entire project.
Initial Reactions to Gyaarah Gyaarah and Role Preparation
When Kritika was first approached for Gyaarah Gyaarah, she had only a partial understanding of the project. “During the audition, I had some information, but not the full script. Initially, I thought it might be similar to other shows I had seen, but as I delved deeper, I realized that the mystical angle was something new, something that hadn’t been explored much in Indian cinema or OTT,” she explained.
Kritika was particularly drawn to her character in the series. Having previously portrayed a gangster, she was excited to step into the shoes of a police officer this time. The dual timeline aspect of the show allowed her to explore different age ranges and character arcs, adding depth to her performance. “When I finally met Umesh sir, the director, I knew I wanted to be a part of this project,” she added.
Building a Bond with the Cast
Kritika also touched upon the camaraderie she shared with her co-stars, Raghav Juyal and Dhairya Karwa. The trio auditioned together and quickly formed a bond that translated well on screen. Their shared experiences, whether it was shooting in challenging locations or simply hanging out between takes, helped build a strong connection that enhanced their performances.
As Kritika Kamra continues to explore new and challenging roles, her journey from television to OTT platforms is proving to be both successful and exciting. With her ability to adapt to different genres and characters, she’s undoubtedly becoming a favorite in the digital space, leaving her mark with every new project.
