Monalisa, the renowned Bhojpuri actress who made a significant mark on television with her role as a witch in the popular show ‘Nazar’, is back on the small screen. This time, she’s taking on a similar but distinctly different role in the new serial ‘Shamshan Champa’. In a recent conversation, Monalisa shared her excitement and insights about playing another supernatural character and why she couldn’t resist the opportunity.
A Fresh Take on a Familiar Role
When asked about returning to a role similar to her previous one in ‘Nazar’, Monalisa was quick to point out the unique aspects of her new character. “In ‘Shamshan Champa’, my character Mohini is very different from what I played before. This time, I have a completely new look, complete with horns on my head, and the ability to control people. The character is both powerful and beautiful, which makes it intriguing,” Monalisa shared. She also praised producer Gul Khan for her creative vision, saying, “Gul Khan always presents her artists in a new and exciting way, so I had no hesitation in taking on this role.”
Embracing the Negative Shades
Monalisa dismissed any concerns about repeating herself in a negative role, highlighting her vast experience in Bhojpuri cinema. “I’ve done over 125 Bhojpuri films, and I’ve portrayed positive roles many times. Negative roles are still relatively new for me, so I don’t feel like I’m repeating myself. In fact, this is only my second or third time playing a negative character,” she explained. This perspective shows Monalisa’s versatility and her eagerness to explore different dimensions of acting.
A Superpower Wish
When asked about what superpower she would like to have in real life, Monalisa responded with a playful and candid answer. “If I could have a superpower, I would want the ability to keep an eye on my husband Vikrant whenever he’s on a shoot, especially when he’s around other heroines. I could be anywhere, but still see what he’s up to,” she said with a laugh. This light-hearted wish reflects her humorous side and her close bond with her husband.
A Shift from Bhojpuri Films to Television
Monalisa, once a top star in Bhojpuri cinema, has been away from the film industry for a few years. She explained that while she continues to receive offers for Bhojpuri films, her focus has shifted to television. “After Bigg Boss 10, I’ve been consistently busy with TV shows, and I’m getting really good roles. It’s hard to find the time to go back to Bhojpuri films right now,” she admitted. This shift in her career highlights how television has opened up new avenues for Monalisa, allowing her to explore different types of roles and reach a broader audience.
Balancing Work and Family Life
On the personal front, Monalisa and her husband Vikrant Singh Rajput are both deeply engaged in their respective careers. However, Monalisa hinted that they are planning to focus on their family life soon. “We do have plans to take our family forward, and we’re very serious about it. Hopefully, we’ll have some good news to share soon,” she revealed. This shows that despite their busy schedules, Monalisa and Vikrant are making conscious efforts to balance their personal and professional lives.
Monalisa’s return to television as a witch in ‘Shamshan Champa’ is eagerly anticipated by her fans. With a new look, fresh challenges, and her trademark charisma, she is all set to enthrall the audience once again. As she continues to navigate her career with grace and determination, Monalisa remains a beloved figure in both Bhojpuri cinema and Indian television.
