Tiger Shroff, who burst onto the Bollywood scene with his debut film Heropanti in 2014, has found himself in a challenging phase of his career. Despite his strong start, the past few years have seen the actor struggling to deliver hits, with several of his recent films failing to impress at the box office. This downturn in fortunes has led to the shelving of yet another of his projects, raising questions about the future trajectory of his career.
Another Major Project Shelved
The latest setback for Tiger Shroff comes with the shelving of his film Hero No. 1, which was being helmed by director Jagan Shakti and produced by Vashu Bhagnani. The film was expected to be a significant release for Tiger, especially after a series of disappointments. According to reports from Bollywood Hungama, around 20% of the shooting for Hero No. 1 had already been completed. The remaining portions were supposed to be shot after the release of Bade Miyan Chote Miyan in April 2024. However, due to the underwhelming performance of Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, Vashu Bhagnani’s production house, Pooja Entertainment, faced financial difficulties. As a result, the production company decided to shelve Hero No. 1, choosing to cut their losses rather than invest further in the project.
While no official confirmation has been provided, sources suggest that director Jagan Shakti has already moved on to another project. He is reportedly working on a new film with Ajay Devgan, which is being produced by Luv Ranjan, and the shooting is expected to begin by December 2024.
A String of Unfortunate Setbacks
This isn’t the first time Tiger has seen one of his films shelved. Prior to Hero No. 1, two other projects—Screw Dheela and Rambo—also faced the same fate. These films were announced with much fanfare, but for various reasons, including financial constraints and creative differences, they never saw the light of day.
Adding to Tiger’s woes are the recent box office failures. Heropanti 2, released in 2022, was intended to build on the success of his debut film. However, the sequel failed to resonate with audiences and was a commercial disappointment. Similarly, Ganpath: Part 1, which hit theatres in 2023, did not perform as expected, despite featuring a star-studded cast that included Kriti Sanon and Amitabh Bachchan. The film struggled to attract viewers, leading to yet another box office flop.
What’s Next for Tiger Shroff?
Despite the recent challenges, Tiger Shroff isn’t completely out of the picture. He is set to appear in Rohit Shetty’s highly anticipated film Singham Again, which is slated for release in late 2024. This movie is the third installment in the successful Singham franchise and boasts an ensemble cast including Ajay Devgan, Kareena Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, and Arjun Kapoor. Although Tiger’s role is reportedly a cameo, his appearance in a big-ticket film like Singham Again could help him regain some momentum in his career.
The Road Ahead
The recent string of setbacks has undoubtedly placed Tiger Shroff in a difficult position. With multiple films shelved and his last few releases underperforming, the actor is facing one of the most challenging phases of his career. However, the industry and his fans alike are watching closely to see how he navigates this period. While Singham Again offers a glimmer of hope, it remains to be seen whether Tiger can bounce back and recapture the magic that made him a promising star in the first place.
For now, Tiger Shroff’s fans will have to wait and see how the actor reinvents himself in the ever-evolving landscape of Bollywood.
