Hollywood star Tyrese Gibson, known for his role in the Fast and Furious series, found himself in legal trouble recently. The actor was arrested for not paying child support to his ex-wife Samantha Lee. The court had ordered Gibson to pay $10,690 per month for the care of their daughter, Soraya, back in April 2023. However, he failed to make these payments, which led to his arrest.
Court Orders Tyrese to Pay Over $73,000
Tyrese appeared in Fulton County Superior Court on September 9, where Judge Kevin Farmer found him in contempt of court for failing to meet his financial obligations. To avoid jail time, the 45-year-old actor was instructed to pay more than $73,000 to Samantha Lee, which included legal fees of $7,500. Despite the court’s strict orders, Gibson was briefly handcuffed in the courtroom but was later released after the hearing.
Tyrese’s Criticism of Family Court
Before his arrest, Tyrese had taken to Instagram on September 8, where he hinted that he might be jailed soon. In his post, which has since been deleted, he criticized Judge Farmer and expressed his frustration with the family court system. Gibson claimed the court is unfair to fathers and suggested that Samantha’s lawyers were closely connected to the judge. He also shared how hard he had worked since he was 14 years old, only to face this legal battle.
Ongoing Legal Battle with Ex-Wife
Tyrese’s legal issues stem from his ongoing child support case with ex-wife Samantha Lee. The couple, who share daughter Soraya, have been involved in disputes over financial arrangements since their separation. Gibson’s failure to pay the court-ordered amount has now escalated to the point of arrest, bringing more attention to his personal life and struggles with the family court system.
