The year 2023 has been a stellar one for Vikrant Massey. His film 12th Fail amazed audiences by performing exceptionally well at the box office, earning three times its budget. Vikrant, known for his impressive acting skills, began his journey in the entertainment industry with television. Recently, on Sony TV’s new chat show Aapka Apna Zakir, hosted by Zakir Khan, Vikrant revealed an interesting and somewhat unbelievable story from his early TV days—how he once shot for a TV show non-stop for 110 hours.
A Fun Task Leads to a Surprising Revelation
During the chat show, Vikrant was given a task by the show’s team, which included Shweta Tiwari, Rithvik Dhanjani, and Paresh Ganatra. The task required Vikrant to share three statements about himself—two false and one true. Vikrant’s three revelations were: that he is a 12th fail, he shot non-stop for 110 hours for a TV serial, and he loved eating mud as a child. To everyone’s surprise, the statement about shooting for 110 hours straight was the truth, while the others were lies.
Vikrant Shares a 17-Year-Old Story
Elaborating on this unbelievable experience, Vikrant took the audience back to 2007. He was working on a TV show called Dharamveer, which aired on NDTV Imagine. The show involved a lot of action sequences, including horse riding. Unfortunately, one day, the actor playing the role of Veer in the show suffered a serious injury after being kicked by a horse, resulting in a fractured leg. At that time, the show aired from Monday to Friday, which created immense pressure to keep the episodes coming.
Vikrant explained, “Since we couldn’t halt the shoot, the writer had to stay up all night to write additional scenes for my character, Dharam. While it was a tough situation, I was thrilled because my role suddenly became more significant, with a lot of scenes added for me.”
Four Days of Non-Stop Shooting
Vikrant continued, “I ended up shooting non-stop for four and a half days. The production team had two shifts—one unit would work from 7 AM to 7 PM, and then another would take over for the night. But I was there continuously, working through both shifts without any real break.”
Shweta Tiwari, who was also present on the show, confirmed Vikrant’s story, adding that such grueling work schedules were once common in the TV industry. However, she noted that scheduling and working conditions have significantly improved since those days.
The Show that Pushed Boundaries
Dharamveer, the show Vikrant referred to, was an adventure series set in a historical context. The show featured Rajat Tokas, famous for his role in Jodha Akbar, in the lead alongside Vikrant. Despite the challenges and the intense shooting schedule, the show managed to capture the audience’s attention during its run.
