In a thrilling display of power-hitting, Ayush Badoni, the captain of South Delhi Superstars, set the Delhi Premier League 2024 alight with a sensational innings. Known for his hard-hitting performances with the Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL, Badoni showcased his talent once again by smashing a massive century that featured an incredible 19 sixes. This innings marked the highest individual score in the history of the league, cementing Badoni’s reputation as one of the most promising young cricketers in the country.

South Delhi Dominates with Record Total

The Delhi Premier League has been a platform for emerging talents to shine, and the match between South Delhi Superstars and North Delhi was no exception. Played at the iconic Arun Jaitley Stadium, the game saw South Delhi bat first. The innings began with a bang, as opener Priyansh Arya launched a ferocious attack on the North Delhi bowlers. Despite losing his opening partner early, Arya found solid support from his captain, Ayush Badoni.

The two batsmen built a colossal partnership, adding 286 runs together and pulverizing the North Delhi bowling attack. Badoni, in particular, was in destructive form, hitting boundaries at will. His innings of 165 runs came off just 55 balls, with a staggering 19 sixes and 8 fours, maintaining a strike rate of 300. This phenomenal performance not only set a new benchmark for the league but also thrilled the spectators, who were treated to a batting masterclass.

Priyansh Arya Joins the Party with Another Century

While Badoni’s heroics took the spotlight, Priyansh Arya’s contribution was equally crucial. Arya continued his fine form in the tournament, scoring his second century of the league. He amassed 120 runs off 50 balls, which included 10 fours and 10 sixes. Arya also achieved the rare feat of hitting six consecutive sixes in a single over, becoming only the second Indian after Yuvraj Singh to do so in T20 cricket. His aggressive batting set the tone for South Delhi’s innings, putting them on track for a massive total.

North Delhi Bowlers Struggle to Contain the Onslaught

The bowlers from North Delhi had a challenging day, struggling to find any answers to the relentless batting onslaught from Badoni and Arya. Every bowler, barring Pranshu Vijayran, was taken to the cleaners, with Manan Bhardwaj being the most expensive, conceding 60 runs in just 2 overs. Vaibhav Kandpal and Suyash Sharma also faced a similar fate, giving away 41 and 66 runs, respectively. Even though Siddharth Solanki managed to pick up 3 wickets, he couldn’t stop the flow of runs, as he gave away 52 runs in his spell.

    Historic Moment in T20 Cricket

On the back of these two explosive centuries, South Delhi Superstars posted a mammoth total of 308 runs in their 20 overs, setting a new record for the highest team score in the Delhi Premier League. This performance marked the first time an Indian team has crossed the 300-run mark in T20 cricket, highlighting the growing prowess and aggressive approach in domestic T20 competitions.

Ayush Badoni’s remarkable innings not only established him as a force to be reckoned with in the T20 format but also underscored the exciting talent emerging from India’s cricketing circuits. Fans and critics alike are now eagerly looking forward to his future performances, anticipating more fireworks from this young star.
