India’s performance at the 2024 Paris Paralympics has been nothing short of spectacular, and the whole nation is celebrating the incredible achievements of our para-athletes. Indian athletes have secured an impressive 26 medals so far, making this the country’s best-ever Paralympic performance. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been personally congratulating the winners and expressing his pride in their accomplishments, referring to their medals as a “gift to the country.”

PM Modi’s Support for the Paralympic Athletes

Over the past few days, PM Modi has spoken to several medal-winning para-athletes, including Harvinder Singh, Sachin Khilari, Kapil Parmar, Pranav Surma, and Dharambir. He applauded their courage and hard work, highlighting how they have made the entire country proud. In his phone calls, the Prime Minister encouraged these athletes, calling their victories an inspiration not only for sports fans but for the whole nation.

The PM didn’t just limit his praise to the athletes themselves. He also acknowledged the dedication of their coaches, recognizing the key role they played in these athletes’ success. PM Modi’s continued interaction with the winners reflects his commitment to encouraging sports and the athletes representing India on the global stage.

    India’s Best Paralympic Performance

India’s performance in the Paris 2024 Olympics might have been below expectations, with the country bringing home only 6 medals and no golds. However, the Paralympians have outshone those results by a wide margin, breaking the record of 19 medals from the Tokyo Paralympics. So far, Indian athletes have earned 26 medals, including 6 golds, 9 silvers, and 11 bronzes.

Competing in the men’s T64 high jump, Praveen cleared 2.08 meters, setting a new Asian record. This victory was particularly sweet for Praveen, as he had previously won silver in the Tokyo Paralympics and was determined to turn that silver into gold this time.
