Chiyaan Vikram, the versatile South Indian actor known for his powerful performances, is currently enjoying success with his latest film Tangalan. The film, which was released in the South on 15 August, has been performing well at the box office and is set to hit Hindi screens on 6 September. Amidst this success, Vikram has shared his thoughts on venturing into Bollywood, a move he’s willing to make under the right conditions.
Vikram’s Bollywood Aspirations
Vikram, who made his Bollywood debut with Mani Ratnam’s Raavan in 2010, hasn’t been seen much in Hindi cinema since then. In a recent interview with Pinkvilla, he revealed that he is open to working in Bollywood but with certain stipulations. Vikram emphasized that he is looking for a role that aligns with his passion and the intensity of the characters he portrays in Tamil cinema. He mentioned that if a Hindi film offers him a role that matches his standards, he would eagerly take it up. “If such a role comes in Hindi, I would definitely like to do it,” Vikram stated.
Success with Hindi Audiences
Despite his limited appearances in Bollywood, Vikram has made a significant impact on Hindi audiences with dubbed versions of his Tamil films. Movies like Anniyan (dubbed as Aparichit) and the recent historical epics Ponniyin Selvan-1 and Ponniyin Selvan 2 were well-received by Hindi-speaking viewers. Vikram believes that if Raavan were released in today’s market, it could have been a massive hit in both Hindi and Tamil versions.
What’s Next for Vikram?
As fans eagerly await the Hindi release of Tangalan, there’s growing anticipation about Vikram’s potential future in Bollywood. His statement has sparked discussions about which filmmakers could offer him a role that meets his expectations. Whether it’s a complex character or a high-octane action role, Vikram’s Bollywood journey seems to hinge on finding that perfect fit. Until then, his fans can continue to enjoy his stellar performances in the South and look forward to what could be a promising venture into Hindi cinema.
