However, just a year after their marriage, the relationship began to crumble. By December 1974, Gulzar and Rakhee were living separately, a split that shocked their fans and the film industry alike.

One of the main reasons behind the couple’s separation was a condition Gulzar imposed on Rakhee before their marriage.
